Our Approach to Each Day
We see children arrive a little quiet on day one… and before long, they’re running in with big smiles, calling out to new friends, and asking what’s happening next.
We’ve watched shy moments turn into confidence, friendships form over games and shared jokes, and children surprise themselves as they try things they never thought they would. One day it’s a team win in a game, the next it’s a proud moment in a creative challenge, and suddenly, they’re just excited to be part of it all.
At Horizon Kids Club, children always come first. Every day is built with one simple focus: helping each child feel happy, included, and excited to join in from the moment they arrive.
There’s always something happening, sports, creative activities, group games, and little adventures throughout the day, so children can jump in, try new things, and just enjoy being in the moment.
We can’t wait for your child to experience it all.
Safety Comes First
We know that when you leave your child with us, you’re trusting us with something incredibly important.
That’s why care and safety sit at the heart of everything we do, not as a separate idea, but as part of every moment of the day. Many of our team are parents themselves, which naturally shapes the way we work, with patience, attention, and genuine care for every child’s experience.
Our team is trained, DBS-checked, and first-aid qualified, and always present and attentive as children move through their day. We keep a close, caring eye on every group, helping children feel secure, included, and comfortable at all times.
We maintain a 1:8 staff-to-child ratio, ensuring children are always supervised, supported, and never left unattended. With paediatric first aiders on site and clear procedures in place, every day is carefully managed from start to finish.
Beyond structure and activities, what matters most to us is how children feel, safe enough to be themselves, confident enough to join in, and relaxed enough to enjoy their time.
So while your child is busy having fun, trying new things, and making friends, you can feel confident they’re in a space that’s thoughtfully cared for at every step.
Arrival & Departure
We open our doors from 9:00am, with arrival by 9:15am, and the day winds down with collection between 4:45pm and 5:00pm.
For those mornings that start early (we see you), and afternoons that run a little later, we offer Horizon Plus, early drop-off from 8:00am and late collection until 6:00pm. This can be booked in advance at £7 per session or £10 for both.
When you arrive, one of our friendly team members will be there to welcome your child, sign them in, and help them find their group. If it’s their first day, we take things gently, a little extra time to settle in, get familiar with the space, and ease into the day with an activity.
At the end of the day, we only release children to adults listed as authorised collectors during registration. If someone unfamiliar arrives to collect, we may ask for photo ID, just to make sure everything stays safe and secure.
And because life doesn’t always stick to plans, we understand things change. If someone different needs to collect, just update your authorised list and let them bring ID. We’ll take care of the rest.
Getting Ready for the Day
A little preparation goes a long way in helping your child feel comfortable, confident, and ready to enjoy their day with us.
We recommend sending your child with a packed lunch (nut-free), snacks for breaks, and a refillable water bottle to keep them energised throughout the day. We gently encourage balanced meals so children can stay active and enjoy all the activities on offer.
For clothing, comfortable outfits that are suitable for both indoor and outdoor activities work best. Depending on the weather, it’s also helpful to include items like a coat, hat, or sunscreen so they’re ready for whatever the day brings. If your child is joining swimming sessions, please don’t forget their swimming kit.
If your child has any allergies, medical needs, or requires medication, please let us know during registration so our team can support them safely and appropriately throughout the day.
If your child has any special requirements, you’re also welcome to contact our support team in advance at [email protected], so we can make any necessary arrangements with your chosen club, if needed.
And finally, a small but important detail, please label all belongings with your child’s name. It helps everything find its way back home at the end of a busy, happy day.
What happens if my child doesn’t settle in?
Most children find their feet quickly and get stuck into the day with ease, especially once they’ve met the team and joined their first activity.
That said, we know the first day (or even the first hour) can feel a little new. If your child seems unsure or gets in touch with you, please let our team know straight away. In most cases, a quick chat, a change of activity, or a bit of extra support is all it takes to help them feel comfortable again.
We’re always here during their time with us to listen, adjust, and make sure they’re having the best possible experience. The sooner we know, the sooner we can help, and we genuinely want every child to feel happy and settled while they’re here.
Every child is welcome here
We believe every child deserves the chance to enjoy their school holidays in a safe, supportive, and engaging environment.
We welcome children from all backgrounds, including those with special educational needs and disabilities. If your child has additional needs, we’ll always take time to understand them properly and work with you to see how we can best support their experience.
If you’d like to talk through anything in advance, please feel free to get in touch with our team, we’re always happy to help and guide you through the next steps.
